Proprioception Exercises

To be efficient in your body, you must have good feedback between your brain and your body and vice versa. Proprioception Exercises Do This.

Being aware of your body is not enough. You are only as aware of your body as you are connected to its proprioceptors. By engaging in proprioception exercises, you can activate these receptors, allowing your brain to create a more accurate neural map of your body’s functions. The more you strengthen this connection, the better you understand how your body works and can utilize it effectively. First and foremost, you need to have a deep sense of knowing and communication. As a result, this understanding naturally develops into confidence. Consequently, this confidence ultimately leads to the feeling of not having to hesitate.

Exercises for your brain and body for strength, awareness, and balance

You need more than just your muscles to have real strength and balance. It takes the fascial soft tissue around them and little computers in your body called proprioceptors to be turned on. This is based on Hills Muscle Model. The degree of how aware and connected you are depends on how many computers you have “turned on” in your body.

If half your computers are only connected, then how can you be sure what you are feeling is the whole truth? Furthermore, how can you efficiently move, have balance, or be strong? Luckily, there are proprioception exercises for that.

Proprioception exercises

Like your muscles, these proprioceptors must be exercised individually with specific proprioception exercises. If, for instance, you do general proprioception exercises for their knee, but need to “turn on” their ACL, then their body and brain will rely on all the other supporting systems instead of the ACL. Consequently, since the ACL is not functioning, this reliance will further increase the gradient between the working and nonworking systems. Therefore, addressing the ACL specifically is crucial to improving overall knee function.
