Can You Contribute More?

The final of the 6 Human Needs might be my favorite: Contribution.

People who strongly feel the need to contribute make a difference in their community. They’re empathetic, compassionate, and believe in the power of sharing.

Potential downsides? Tony Robbins says they include getting burned out, neglecting people closest to you, and being taken advantage of others.

I believe that making a contribution is vital to your self-care.

That’s right. Giving to others improves YOUR life.

“Living is giving,” as we’ve all heard.

And when we give, we always receive more in return – especially if we do so without thinking about getting anything at all.

Is there any better feeling than helping someone, whether it’s a stranger or someone you know?

Studies prove that volunteering or time or money makes us feel better and brings significant physical and mental health benefits.

And if your community doesn’t have the ideal way you’d like to contribute, you can always create your own.

It’s easy to forget how any times other people have helped you throughout your lifetime. And I’m not just talking about charity! I mean kindness, generosity of time and spirit, making a phone call on your behalf… The possibilities are endless.

By contributing to others, you’re not only helping to meet their needs. You’re also helping to meet your own.

And you can only give what you have. This is where self-care comes in. The more you can fill your “cup” the more it can spill over for others.

The best vehicle for this is a holistic health and fitness program. It is an intentional program that improves your body, self-worth, and realization of your potential.

It requires specificity, integration and a holistic view.

How Do You Challenge Yourself to Grow? 🧐

Solcore therapy and fitness

For any living thing, growth is life itself.

Humans have an innate need to grow, improve and learn. There’s nothing wrong with it – it’s only natural, after all. It’s one of the 6 Human Needs Tony Robbins says drive us all.

Think about your own desire for growth. Where does it show itself? Does it drive you to good things – only or mostly? Have you come upon any danger signs indicating you’re trying for too much too soon?

If you’re always pursuing growth, then you’ll avoid boredom and attachment to people or things, Tony says. You might thrive by pushing boundaries but want to move on too quickly from relationships. He recommends diving deep to master new topics or skills, and to remember the importance of emotional and spiritual growth through self-examination and meditation.

I know a lot of people who want to grow so much that they pursue it obsessively, neglecting other aspects of life – other human needs – that will bring them balance, peace and lasting success.

We can always be chasing “the next thing” – and never really appreciate what we have.

But if we cling too tightly to what we have, we’re blocking our human nature to grow.

It all comes down to choices and to balance. That’s a tricky dance for everyone.

But the solution is rooted in the same healthy habits that sustain us all and improve our chances of healthy growth: regular exercise; healthy diets; stress management; quality sleep.

You can’t grow without them.

Pursuing Significance, Love and Connection 🌻

SolCore Therapy and Fitness

We all like recognition, don’t we? Remember a time when a boss or parent offered you praise. It felt good, didn’t it?

Well, the desire for recognition is common, and it’s of our broader desire for significance, which is one of the 6 Human Needs motivational author and speaker Tony Robbins says drive us all.

How do you seek this kind of significance? Do you like to be noticed, or do you try to avoid it? Well, if you’re super-driven to be successful, desire to hear you’re outstanding, or foster competitive and perfectionist actions, then significance is high on your list of human needs.

All that’s great, unless it leads you to associating with only people who pale in your shadow or choosing experiences you know you can master easily.

Connection/Love is another of Tony’s 6 Human Needs, so again, let’s ask how you go about meeting that need. If this is most important to you of all the needs, that means you’re loyal and generous, with strong social ties — but an ease at losing yourself and difficulty saying no.

As with all human needs, it helps us to try to meet them – but only if we don’t go too far in one direction or the other.

That applies to our healthy living habits and desires, as well. Think about how a desire to constantly push yourself in the activities you love has lead to a body that can’t do them as well, or at all. 🧐

Consider how much you have to sacrifice of your time and energy if you want to achieve something extraordinary, like long-distance running or extremely low body fat.

Maybe “setting priorities” is just another way of describing how we balance how we try to fulfill all these needs.

We’re here to help with all of that. Your health and fitness goals will have an overarching priority, then a bunch of reasonably spaced mini-priorities to get you there.

Then it’s about 3 things:

𝟭)𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘁𝘆𝗹𝗲 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀, 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝘅𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗼.

𝟮) 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗮 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻.

𝟯)𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗶𝘁 𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂.

This does take some knowledge, and if you need help, were here. Put a “help please” in the comments, and we’ll contact you. 👏🏽

👉🏽 Are You Driven by a Need for Certainty? (You’re Not Alone!)

Solcore therapy and fitness

Do you ever wonder why you are the way you are? Why you want what you want? Why you get frustrated or upset by certain things that don’t seem to bother most people?

Well, it’s because you’re human, if we want to get right down to it!😂

And it’s good to take a look inside ourselves. “The unexamined life is not worth living,” as Socrates said.

Tony Robbins, the self-improvement guru and author, promotes the concept of 6 Human Needs.

No. 1 on his list is certainty, “𝓪𝓼𝓼𝓾𝓻𝓪𝓷𝓬𝓮 𝓽𝓱𝓪𝓽 𝔂𝓸𝓾 𝓬𝓪𝓷 𝓪𝓿𝓸𝓲𝓭 𝓹𝓪𝓲𝓷 𝓪𝓷𝓭 𝓰𝓪𝓲𝓷 𝓹𝓵𝓮𝓪𝓼𝓾𝓻𝓮,” he writes.

This might be the most common need, but it can be detrimental when trying to create a fulfilling life. As Tony puts it, “In order to live a life filled with certainty, your life has to stay the same – a nearly impossible expectation to fulfill.”

People who crave certainty more than anything are generally trustworthy. They enjoy planning and tend to be organized but are hesitant about taking risks and trying new things. Too much certainty can lead to obsessive behaviors and even addictions.

The counterpart is uncertainty/variety, which Tony defines as “the need for the unknown, change, new stimuli.”

Here, we see outgoing people who like new experiences and are interested in a range of things. But too much uncertainty can lead to unfocused behavior and poor planning, disrupting things just for the desire to experience yet more change.

What do you think? Are you compelled more by certainty or uncertainty?

I believe a balance between the two is necessary, but I give the edge to uncertainty every time. That’s where we find the daring within ourselves to go on new adventures, to push ourselves to build our dreams, and to feel the exhilaration of living.

Nothing stays the same, so why fight it? Embrace change. I’m certain you can make it work for you.👊🏽

Set The Bar High For Yourself While Managing Your Expectations.

Setting big, scary goals is exciting.

But it’s also quickly disheartening too many times when we fail to support our efforts by managing expectations. Most of the time, the problem isn’t that the goal’s too big or grandiose. It’s that we’re not setting reasonable expectations about reaching it.

Here’s an example that’s super-oversimplified just to make the point.

Let’s say you’re wanting to correct your posture and increase your strength that has declined over the past 10-20 years

Is that a reasonable goal?

Absolutely!👏🏽

Now, let’s say you expect this to happen in two weeks. 🧐

Is that a realistic expectation?

Absolutely not!👎🏽

And yet I hear from people all the time who want to do something like this in such a tight timeframe.

Look, expectation is the mother of all disappointments. But setting goals and setting on a well-charted course to reach them?

Well, that’s how you get where you want to go.

Don’t change the desired destination. Just pick the right path.

And when choosing the right path, coaching should absolutely be part of it. If you want to improve your posture, build functional strength, decrease//eliminate pain, and increase mobility, then let us help coach you through it.

Our program is based on what others don’t use. Its :

Specific: It’s not enough to “just move” and expect your body to figure out what you need. You need to be specific with what you tell it what you want to do.

Integrated: You need to use more than one or two ways of training. The body needs to work in many ways, and they all need to be integrated for a complete program.

Holistic: You must train the body holistically because that is how it’s designed. You are an interconnected, interdependent being; if that is not respected, you will train yourself to be unbalanced and dysfunctional. So even when specifically working with an area, the rest of your body must be used appropriately for holistic education.

Using these three pillars within a progressively coached program is the most sustainable, empowered way to longevity.
