You Gotta Make Space In Your Life For Your Goals

I’ve been thinking a lot about making space in one’s life for whatever goals you want to achieve. Take health and fitness. People come to us to get stronger, have better posture, and more mobility, correct injuries, reduce pain, etc.

Their past efforts led to where they are now and who they are. Their current ‘mindset’ played a big part in their current situation. Their goals, expectation, desires, habits again, etc., were factors.

Choosing the right service is the first step. If you don’t have a program scientifically designed to work with the body, then it won’t matter what you do.

And when you do find it and are deciding to move forward with it, taking stock of how you need to be a participant and how you need to open up to what is to come separates those who can get through the mess and those who can’t.

A healthy sense of humor greatly helps the situation. 😉

Here’s How to Bloom This Spring 🌻

Spring is a great season right after winter and tied with fall. I love skiing, so it’s bittersweet, but I can now trail run in perfect weather. The one this that is very cool about spring is the feeling of aliveness!

When I think about personal growth and rebirth, the symbolism is so clear and positive this time of year. It’s everywhere you look! So, let’s think about how you can learn from nature’s beautiful cycle and blossom into your brightest, best self.

✅ 𝗗𝗶𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗿𝘁. Before we get to the renewal process, we have to get rid of a lot of junk – just like nature uses winter to clear the decks before the explosions of life we see in spring. So, go ahead and get your hands dirty… pull up some weeds… find and protect your roots. You want to nurture your spirit and your psyche, so it’s primed for new life.

✅ 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀. This is a wonderful time to try new activities and perspectives. What will grow, and what will simply not take root? It will be interesting to find out! No judgment. No excuses. Give yourself the freedom to explore.

✅ 𝗧𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗴𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗻. Everything needs sunshine and water to grow and thrive – including your attitude and progress toward goals. Get outside every day for fresh air and spring light, and take care of your body with water, exercise and rest.

✅ 𝗕𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗺 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲. It’s a simple fact that when you’ve done all you can do, it’s best to leave the outcomes to other forces (like nature). And when your heart is full of gratitude, you have more room for love and selflessness, spreading joy like another flower along the path.

In all honesty, I don’t garden. I could think of a million more things I would want to do before this, but I like the analogy. 😂

If you follow these steps, I believe you’ll have an amazing spring and set yourself up for a spectacular summer, as well. We’re a part of the same nature as the plants, after all, so lock into that power – and grow!

How to harness the energy of spring to reach your health and fitness goals. 🧐

Sunshine becomes more abundant in springtime, so it’s logical that springtime is all about growth – since growth requires energy.

So, how can you apply this circular model from nature to reach your health and fitness goals?

Well, it’s simple when you think about those two key characteristics of spring: You need to apply energy to make the most of your growth.

Here’s how.

👉🏽Wʜᴀᴛ ᴀʀᴇ ʏᴏᴜʀ sᴏᴜʀᴄᴇs ᴏғ ᴇɴᴇʀɢʏ? Pʟᴀɴᴛs ɢᴇᴛ ᴛʜᴇɪʀs ғʀᴏᴍ ᴛʜᴇ sᴜɴ, ᴏғ ᴄᴏᴜʀsᴇ. Aɴᴅ ɢᴜᴇss ᴡʜᴀᴛ? Sᴏ ᴅᴏ ʏᴏᴜ! Sᴏ, ʙᴇ sᴜʀᴇ ᴛᴏ ɢᴇᴛ ᴏᴜᴛsɪᴅᴇ ʀᴇɢᴜʟᴀʀʟʏ ᴀɴᴅ sᴏᴀᴋ ᴜᴘ sᴏᴍᴇ Vɪᴛᴀᴍɪɴ D. Bᴜᴛ ᴡʜᴀᴛ ᴇʟsᴇ ʀᴇᴄʜᴀʀɢᴇs ʏᴏᴜʀ ʙᴀᴛᴛᴇʀɪᴇs? Hᴏᴡ ᴀʙᴏᴜᴛ:

Success Is a Decision 💯

Solcore Fitness Therapy and training

Some people say “Success is a journey, not a destination.” And while I agree with that, I also think success is something else.

Success is a decision.

That’s right. In building healthy habits, in achieving goals, in work… whatever: We choose our own results.

I’m often asked how to succeed at something – like, how to correct the issue in their body for longevity, for example. The solution is simple: Decide you’re going to do it.

Here’s what I mean – or, rather, what I don’t mean.

👉🏽 You don’t get what you want by waiting for it to magically happen.

👉🏽 You don’t get what you want by hoping someone gives it to you.

👉🏽 You don’t get what you want by quitting when it gets difficult or takes longer than you’d like.

Instead, success comes from:

👍🏽 Understanding your motivations

👍🏽 Doing your research and choosing appropriate goals

👍🏽 And then committing – really committing – to do whatever is necessary.

That’s what successful people do. They don’t rely on talent and hope and good luck, although those things can play a part.

But even the rare few who are talented, hopeful and lucky also plan smartly and work hard.

They adopt a champion’s mindset and learn to stay above their emotions, while accepting that doubt and missteps are part of the deal.

And they build consistent habits that often take time to pay off.

Success then isn’t just ONE decision, but a constant effort to make the next positive choice.

If you can say yes, then you’re halfway there.

What Are Your Daily Non-Negotiables?

SolCore Fitness Therapy and training

Sometimes the day gets away from you so fast.

You start out with a list of good intentions and then, bam! Work, family, traffic… all the stresses of daily life barge in, and suddenly that new fitness class is no longer on the calendar, and you’re tempted to think about hitting a drive-through window for lunch.

Well, this happens to me less often ever since I came up with my Sacred 3. That’s my list of three non-negotiables, the small habits I do every day, no matter how busy I get.

You should try it! It’s super-simple to do. Just take a few minutes to write down all the daily habits you currently do or wish you were doing. Then narrow it down to just 1 to 3 items that you can commit to without fail.

Be real with this. Remember how crazy things got last week… Or that day last month… Is something like that going to happen again?

Probably! Because life happens, despite our best intentions.

Here are some possible non-negotiables to consider.

✅ Drinking enough water.

✅ Getting outside for a few minutes.

✅ Closing your eyes and taking deep breaths for one minute.

✅ Eating more vegetables.

✅ Moving your body with intention every day, even if it’s just a 15 stretching routine that balances your body

✅ Taking a moment to give thanks.

Does this list get you thinking in the right direction? The point isn’t to tell you that these should make up your own Sacred 3. That’s up to you!

Ever since I made my own list, and then set about guarding it with a passion, I find that I have fewer days where I feel overwhelmed, like my life is out of control. Every day that I’m able to stay on track – even if it’s just with these three little things – is another day I’m not giving up, not falling back to old habits, and not despairing.

It’s a powerful tactic to shut out the noise and the stress of the rest of the world!

What are your 3?
